To make up for increasing destroyer losses during WWII, the Japanese Navy created the “Tei Type” destroyers which featured simplified construction. The first ship of this class was the Matsu, which was completed in April 1944. To reduce construction time and save materials, the hull and bridge design consisted of simple straight edges and surfaces. This model accurately reflects the unique features of the “Tei Type” destroyers, including the 2nd funnel which was offset to the right. The main turrets and large numbers of 25mm anti-aircraft guns fitted during the end of the war are also highly detailed and offer an insight into the desperate fight against U.S. air superiority.

Para compensar las crecientes pérdidas de destructores durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, la Armada japonesa creó los destructores «Tipo Tei», de construcción simplificada. El primer buque de esta clase fue el Matsu, que se completó en abril de 1944. Para reducir el tiempo de construcción y ahorrar materiales, el diseño del casco y el puente consistía en simples bordes y superficies rectas. Este modelo refleja fielmente las características únicas de los destructores «Tipo Tei», incluida la 2ª chimenea que estaba desplazada hacia la derecha. Las torretas principales y el gran número de cañones antiaéreos de 25 mm instalados al final de la guerra también están muy detallados y ofrecen una visión de la desesperada lucha contra la superioridad aérea estadounidense.
