The nine-trial single-seat fighter is the founder of the Type 96 shipboard fighter, which was the main fighter of the Navy before the adoption of Zero Fighter. The Navy’s first all-metal monoplane, designed by Jiro Horikoshi in response to the demand for modern high-speed aircraft, incorporates innovative ideas that will lead to the later Zero Fighter, and the first prototype has reverse gull wings. It became a characteristic form.
