In 1938, the German Army decided to develop an armoured personnel carrier on the basis of the 3-ton half track (HL-KL-9p). Hanomag Hannoversch Machinenbau (AG) in Hannover was ordered to develop the running gear and Bussing-NAG in Berlin was to develop the superstructure to be armoured. Design work was hastened on the model of existing armoured cars and a prototype was completed at the end of 1938. The Germans tested the prototype in the Kumahsdorf Proving Ground and accepted it for mass production. Thus was born the Armoured Personnel Carrier Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 which, we may safely say, was a synonym for the German mechanized corps that showed activity in all battlefields throughout the war.
En 1938, el ejército alemán decidió desarrollar un vehículo blindado de transporte de personal sobre la base del semioruga de 3 toneladas (HL-KL-9p). Hanomag Hannoversch Machinenbau (AG) en Hannover recibió la orden de desarrollar el tren de rodaje y Bussing-NAG en Berlín debía desarrollar la superestructura a blindar. El trabajo de diseño se aceleró en el modelo de los vehículos blindados existentes y se completó un prototipo a finales de 1938. Los alemanes probaron el prototipo en el campo de pruebas de Kumahsdorf y lo aceptaron para la producción en masa. Así nació el Transporte Blindado de Personal Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 que, podemos decir con seguridad, fue un sinónimo del cuerpo mecanizado alemán que mostró actividad en todos los campos de batalla durante la guerra.

A 3rd Generation acrylic paint set featuring the six colors essential for painting models of German Army vehicles used in Europe from 1937 until 1944.
RAL 7017 Dunkelbraun and RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau were the standard camouflage colors used in 1937-40.
From 1940, RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau was used as a single camouflage color.
In the spring of 1943, a three color camouflage system was introduced, featuring RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb as the base color and RAL 6003 Olivgrün and RAL 8017 Rotbraun for disruptive patterns.
As the two latter colors were supplied to the troops in form of emulsion paints which could be applied either straight from the container or thinned, variation in color appearance existed.
This is addressed by the inclusion of two different green shades in this set.

The use of these new materials and the manufacturing and assembly methods reflect on the way we paint and weather these models; they require a different approach. A 3rd Generation acrylic paint set featuring six colors used for painting vehicles of the German Afrika Korps in North Africa from early 1941 to May 1943.
Most of the vehicles and equipment initially shipped to Africa were painted RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau overall.
In March 1941, the first camouflage colours specifically intended for use in Africa were selected:
RAL 8000 Gelbbraun and RAL 7008 Graugrün. These colors were to cover two thirds and one third of vehicle’s surface, respectively.
In March 1942, they were replaced by RAL 8020 Braun and RAL 7027 Grau.
The set also includes RAL 1001 Elfenbein vehicle interior color.
This set contains:
