Light cruisers had the important role of being destroyer flotilla leaders, coordinating their unit’s torpedo attacks while making attacks themselves. In 1939, a new class of such flotilla leaders was created under the Fourth Fleet Replenishment Plan, and this is a model of the Agano, the lead ship of her namesake class which served throughout the Pacific until she was sunk by a U.S. submarine in the waters off of Truk. This kit depicts the ship as she appeared upon her completion in 1942, and accurately reproduces the balanced design including her masts and twin 15cm gun turrets.

Los cruceros ligeros tenían la importante función de ser líderes de flotilla de destructores, coordinando los ataques con torpedos de su unidad mientras ellos mismos realizaban los ataques. En 1939, se creó una nueva clase de líderes de flotilla bajo el Plan de Reabastecimiento de la Cuarta Flota, y este es un modelo del Agano, el buque líder de su clase homónima que sirvió en todo el Pacífico hasta que fue hundido por un submarino estadounidense en aguas de Truk.
