Nazi Germany began to develop U-IX submarines with longer endurance in 1935-1936. The U-IX type has 5 external torpedo storages (3 at the stern and 2 at the bow) to store 10 additional torpedo. They may carry 44 TMA or 66 TMB mines if they carry out mine missions. The defensive weapon on the boat is a Utof 10.5cm gun and can carry about 110 rounds of ammunition and one 3.7cm and 2cm anti-aircraft gun
