The Golden Hind was an English galleon best known for its global circumnavigation between 1577 and 1580, captained by Sir Francis Drake, who on his return with a haul of Spanish gold and other treasures was knighted by Queen Elizabeth. The Hind was a well armed and nimble galleon, she was orginally commissioned as The Pelican and built in Deptford, London, where she was launched in 1577. She was the flagship of an expedition to explore the regions beyond South America commanded by Drake, with personnel support of Queen Elizabeth of England. Drake’s mission became one less of exploration and more of piracy as he wreaked havoc against Spanish interests in the region.

El Golden Hind fue un galeón inglés más conocido por su circunnavegación mundial entre 1577 y 1580, capitaneado por Sir Francis Drake, quien a su regreso con un botín de oro español y otros tesoros fue nombrado caballero por la Reina Isabel. El Hind, un galeón bien armado y ágil, fue encargado originalmente como The Pelican y construido en Deptford, Londres, donde fue botado en 1577. Era el buque insignia de una expedición para explorar las regiones más allá de Sudamérica comandada por Drake, con el apoyo personal de la reina Isabel de Inglaterra. La misión de Drake no fue tanto de exploración como de piratería, ya que causó estragos contra los intereses españoles en la región.
