The Opel Blitz was the main German truck of the Second World War. Deployed on essentially all fronts and in large numbers, it can be considered the Wehrmacht’s real cargo ‘mule’. The chassis, the robust rigid axle system with leaf springs and the rear axle with its twin wheels were capable of bearing a payload of more than 3 tonnes. The easy-to-maintain 3,600 cc Opel engine delivered 75 hp. The most popular version was the 4×2 with rear-wheel drive. There was, however, a 4×4 version that operated in both the Russian moors and the African deserts. Manufactured in several thousand units, thanks to its flexibility and large rear load compartment, the Opel Blitz was also used for tasks other than pure transport, such as a mobile command post equipped with radio systems for transmitting orders and coordinating troops on the battlefield.

El Opel Blitz fue el principal camión alemán de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Desplegado en prácticamente todos los frentes y en grandes cantidades, puede considerarse la auténtica «mula» de carga de la Wehrmacht. El chasis, el robusto sistema de eje rígido con ballestas y el eje trasero con sus ruedas gemelas eran capaces de soportar una carga útil de más de 3 toneladas. El motor Opel de 3.600 cc, fácil de mantener, entregaba 75 CV. La versión más popular era la 4×2 con tracción trasera. Sin embargo, existía una versión 4×4 que operaba tanto en los páramos rusos como en los desiertos africanos. Fabricado en varios miles de unidades, gracias a su flexibilidad y a su gran compartimento de carga trasero, el Opel Blitz también se utilizó para tareas distintas del transporte puro, como puesto de mando móvil equipado con sistemas de radio para transmitir órdenes y coordinar a las tropas en el campo de batalla.
