Designed at the beginning of World War II, the Crusader was one of the most important British ‘Cruiser’ wagons, reaching a production of over 5,000 units. Equipped with Christie suspension and large-diameter running wheels, the Crusader possessed remarkable capabilities in rough terrain. The first Mk. I and Mk. II were armed with a 2 pdr. gun, later replaced by the more powerful 6 pdr. gun in the Mk. III version. Lacking adequate armour against enemy fire, it was also very vulnerable to enemy mines and anti-tank guns, and its armament was often inadequate in the face of similar German vehicles. However, when used in a coordinated manner, they managed to achieve good results.

Equipado con suspensión Christie y ruedas de rodadura de gran diámetro, el Crusader poseía notables capacidades en terrenos accidentados. Los primeros Mk. I y Mk. II iban armados con un cañón de 2 libras, sustituido posteriormente por el más potente cañón de 6 libras en la versión Mk. III. Al carecer de un blindaje adecuado contra el fuego enemigo, también era muy vulnerable a las minas enemigas y a los cañones antitanque, y su armamento era a menudo insuficiente frente a vehículos alemanes similares. Sin embargo, cuando se utilizaban de forma coordinada, conseguían buenos resultados.
