Formed in February 1942 in Scotland, the unit was commanded by Major General Stanisław Maczek. The division joined combat in Normandy on 8 August 1944 during Operation Totalize.
It achieved a victory against the Wehrmacht in the battles for Mont Ormel and the town of Chambois.
This series of offensive and defensive operations came to be known as the Battle of Falaise, in which a large number of German Army and SS divisions were trapped in the Falaise Pocket and subsequently destroyed.
Maczek’s division had the crucial role of closing the pocket at the escape route of the trapped German divisions.
After the Allied armies broke out from Normandy, the Polish 1st Armoured Division pursued the Germans along the coast of the English Channel.
During Operation Pheasant a successful outflanking manoeuvre planned and performed by General Maczek allowed the liberation of the city of Breda without any civilian casualties.
In early 1945, the division was transferred to the province of Overijssel and started to push with the Allies along the Dutch-German border, liberating the eastern parts of the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen including the town of Emmen. In April 1945, it entered Germany.
On 6 May, the division seized the Kriegsmarine naval base in Wilhelmshaven.

Creada en febrero de 1942 en Escocia, la unidad estaba al mando del general de división Stanisław Maczek.
La División entró en combate en Normandía el 8 de agosto de 1944 durante la Operación Totalize.
Logró una victoria contra la Wehrmacht en las batallas por Mont Ormel y en la ciudad de Chambois.
Esta serie de operaciones ofensivas y defensivas se conocerían como la Batalla de Falaise, en la que un gran número de divisiones del ejército alemán y de las SS quedaron atrapadas en la telaraña de Falaise y posteriormente fueron destruidas.

The wet palette is a tool mainly used by figure painters, but is increasingly being used by people who paint any kind of model with acrylics.

WWII German Midget Submarine
The Molch was a single-seat ultra-small submarine designed for operations in the coastal zone and belonged to the so-called special assault forces. During development, it was designated as “Thomas II”, and production of serial models, known as “Molch”, began in July 1944. The mini-submarine was equipped with a single electric motor for surface and underwater operation, which limited its combat capability. The depth of immersion was up to 60 meters, and the maximum speed in the underwater position was 5 knots. The hull consisted of three sections, with a chair for a single crew member in the center section. The Molch was built at the Deschhimag shipyard in Bremen, and 393 units were produced in total. As part of the special sabotage formation “K”, these submarines were used in the Mediterranean and North Seas, making 140 trips to sea by the end of World War II.

El Molch era un submarino monoplaza ultrapequeño diseñado para operaciones en la zona costera y pertenecía a las denominadas fuerzas especiales de asalto. Durante su desarrollo, fue designado como “Thomas II”, y la producción de modelos en serie, conocidos como “Molch”, comenzó en julio de 1944. El minisubmarino estaba equipado con un único motor eléctrico para operar en superficie y bajo el agua, lo que limitaba su capacidad de combate. La profundidad de inmersión era de hasta 60 metros, y la velocidad máxima en posición submarina era de 5 nudos. El casco constaba de tres secciones, con una silla para un solo tripulante en la sección central. El Molch se construyó en los astilleros Deschhimag de Bremen, y se fabricaron 393 unidades en total. Como parte de la formación especial de sabotaje “K”, estos submarinos se utilizaron en los mares Mediterráneo y del Norte, realizando 140 salidas al mar al final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
