The A-Wing is a space fighter from the Star Wars universe that fights in the ranks of the Rebellion. It first appeared on screen in Return of the Jedi (part III or VI of the saga). Standard armament consists of two laser cannons and two missile launchers. The vehicle is 9.6 metres long and 6.5 metres wide. Drive is provided by dual ion engines.

The fighter was designed based on the experience of the Battle of Yavin (year 0 ABY), as a very fast and manoeuvrable machine, intended primarily for combat manoeuvring that would be able to withstand Imperial TIE fighters. It was designed to be smaller and lighter than the X-wing (also known as the Incom T-65). In the course of the fights, it turned out that the A-Wing is doing very well and is an equal opponent for the Imperial machines. It is worth noting that its production has been much more decentralised than that of the X-wing machines.
